Membership in the Pre-Columbian Society

Membership in The Pre-Columbian Society at the Penn Museum supports the activities of the Society, including honoraria and travel expenses for speakers, publication of The Codex, support for the annual Maya Weekend at Penn Museum, and other relevant expenses. Our tiers of membership are:

Patron - $100
Family - $50
Single - $35
Codex-Only - $25

Membership is expected to be renewed annually each September, with the exception of new members who joined at the preceding Maya Weekend.  These new members are considered to be paid in full until the second September following their enrollment.

In addition to membership dues, Patron, Family, and Single members that live locally are expected to join the Penn Museum. This provides the member with Museum access and other benefits, and also supports the Museum, which provides the Society with meeting rooms and other services.

Note that effective with the membership year beginning September 2012, dues in each category (except Patron) have been increased by $5. This increase is only the second since the formation of the PCS in the early 1980s, and given the rising costs involved with presenting our programs, publishing The Codex and providing the extras that come along with membership (such as trips and special workshops), we believe this nominal increase will more realistically help us to meet the costs of providing our services to our members.  We tried hard to keep the increase to a minimum yet still be able to maintain a satisfactory level of offerings for our members, and we thank our members for their continued loyalty to The Pre-Columbian Society and for their understanding regarding this increase in dues.

The membership form may be accessed here: 2012-2013 Membership Form. Dues may be mailed to the Society or brought to a meeting.
